Arthritis Salve 2 oz. from Living by the Blueprint is a topical salve recommended for arthritis, gout, muscle aches, sprains, strains, first-aid, and bone fractures.

The ingredients in the Arthritis Salve has been traditionally used for relieving pain and inflammation caused by rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

There is no menthol in the arthritis salve for those that do not like the smell of menthol. If you want the extra ‘heat’ of menthol try the Cayenne salve instead. It has similar effects and includes menthol.

Willow bark benefits:

• Willow bark is a medicinal herb with many health benefits.

• White willow bark can be used to reduce pain and inflammation. According to most scientists, the chemical salicin in the willow bark is the main beneficial chemical. However, some studies show other components of this bark, including plant chemicals called flavonoids and polyphenols, have antioxidant, antiseptic, immune-boosting, and fever-reducing properties which promote healing and health.

• Studies also show that willow bark works as well as aspirin for relieving pain and inflammation.

Gravel root benefits:

• Traditionally gravel root has been used to cleanse the kidney and dissolve the build-up of uric acid which can build up in joints causing gout and inflammation.
• Excess uric acid in the joints can result in gout and possibly arthritis. Gravel root has an antilithic effect on uric acid crystals.
• It is also great for arthritis and overall bone health due to its ability to bring minerals into and out of a solution, hence being effective for dissolving and removing deposits in the joints.
• Gravel root may also have great potential to reduce inflammation in the joints, which could help tackle rheumatic diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and gout. According to research, this might be due to the plant’s cistifolin content, a cell adhesion blocker that has demonstrated anti-inflammatory activities.
