Introduction to the Health Benefits Hydrotherapy
Healing Water
Have you ever burned your hand or smashed your finger and instantly darted to a sink with cold running water gushing from the spout? Did you know that hydrotherapy is a massage treatment that uses water? In fact, many people use hydrotherapy treatments and are not aware that they are practicing it. God created water not only to rehydrate our bodies, but to aid in carrying many functions of the body such as flushing out waste from the system to helping your brain function adequately. Water deficiencies can cause dehydration, joint pain, a decrease in cognitive function and a host of other illnesses. Dehydration often is the root cause of one’s illness.
Hydrotherapy involves the use of water to treat many conditions, such as high blood pressure, fever, arthritis, gout, rheumatic pain and other ailments. Hydrotherapy also serves as a massage application using water. It is most beneficial when the body is sensitive to hand pressure. We consider hydrotherapy the first form of massage to be used after an injury because it helps with the pain, swelling and inflammation. It is very efficacious when used both adults and children. When given internally or externally, hydrotherapy provides soothing, quenching, relaxing qualities through the use of God’s healing water.
Apply heat to calm and soothe the body, while slowing down the processes of internal organs. Use cold to revive and stimulate, thus increasing the body’s internal processes. When feeling stressed take a hot bath. Taking a contrast shower of 1min hot and 30sec cold will aid in stimulate your mind and body. Be sure to always end with cold to close up pores.
You may use hot baths as well, but you must have cold rags around your head and neck. Drink lots of water and not be in the bath for a long time.

Bible Quotes
Isaiah 44:3
For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:
Hebrews 10:22
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Spirit of Prophecy Quotes (Ellen White)
The Lord has taught us that great efficacy for healing lies in a proper use of water. These treatments should be given skillfully. We have been instructed that in our treatment of the sick we should discard the use of drugs. There are simple herbs that can be used for the recovery of the sick, whose effect upon the system is very different from that of those drugs that poison the blood and endanger life. —Manuscript 73, 1908 (Manuscript entitled “Counsels Repeated”). { 2SM 288.1} (Ellen White, Selected Messages Book 2, page 288, paragraph 1)
“To educate the human family that the doctor alone knows all the ills of infants and persons of every age is false teaching, and the sooner we as a people stand on the principles of health reform, the greater will be the blessing that will come to those who would do true medical work. There is a work to be done in treating the sick with water and teaching them to make the most of the sunshine and physical exercise. Thus in simple language, we may teach the people how to preserve health, how to avoid sickness. This is the work our sanitariums are called upon to do. This is true science.”—M.S. 105, (written August 26, 1898) { PH144 13.2 } (Ellen White, PH144, page 13, paragraph 2)
